Particle Fever
Screenings followed by discussion panels
Particle Fever makes you experience the frantic moments of the Large Hadron Collider’s biggest achievement: the discovery of the Higgs boson. With a bit of Hollywood vibes, it gives you a glimpse of the joys, the pains, the adrenalin and the determination of scientists who took part in this quest.
Panel at the Vancouver International Film Festival, 2013#
In 2013 during my doctoral studies, I arrived one day to TRIUMF to discover a VIFF gold pass on my desk. The Canadian laboratory for nuclear and particle physics selected me to be part of the panel discussion of Particle Fever in Vancouver. I went to the big theatre and got quite emotional, especially while recognizing many of my colleagues on a big screen. The movie directors were there and I could share with the audience afterwards what it is to be an experimental particle physicist.
Screenings at AIMS South Africa, 2023–2026#
During my time at AIMS South Africa, I organized three screenings of Particle Fever with a post-movie surprise for the students: some cast members, aka the highlighted physicists the movie crew followed for seven years, showed up for a live chat! Thank you to Monica Dunford and Martin Aleksa for their time late at night!
